HI I'M CARO

i'm the kind of gal who travels to new zealand with her two year old son... alone

(mom + feminist first)

I am a creator and curator. I'm also a new small business owner - after jumping the Corporate Ship in 2025. (Like literally asked to walk the plank). I opened Craftshop Orlando to connect to the community around me after realizing Orlando needs more third spaces to hang, create and connect.

I'm always daydreaming and thinking of ways to make living on Earth more fun.

I also started a sausage dog meet up group with a simple goal in mind: to create opportunities for people to connect in Orlando. Find Dachshunds of Orlando on Facebook.

Craftshop is wiener dog friendly - host your next puppy party in our fence in backyard in SODO Orlando, Florida.

I've worked for some of the best brands in travel and hospitality and, I know a thing or two about travel.

I'm super lucky to have traveled to and studied in other countries. I've lived in Italy, Morocco, Argentina, and Sydney, Australia.

Plus, I've seen a bunch of the United States too. My family moved quite a lot growing up. I've lived in a small town capitol in New Hampshire, then just outside our nation's capital, and then the music capital and home of ACL (and my favorite) - Austin, Texas. In high school I attended School Year Abroad - Italian Program, returning to senior year which ended up being really hard for me. Thankfully my best friend invited me to join a gap year in Morocco and I said yes. We lived and studied together at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. The second half of the school year I spent studying Italian in Milan while immersing myself in Milanese student culture and Polish (Yes, Polish) culture.

After the gap year, I returned to the North East and attended Boston University where I studied Anthropology and Religion. Throughout college I worked in my free time to afford plane tickets to Italy to see my Polish boyfriend (the one I met in Morocco) throughout college.

From Milan To Boston And Back Again

I studied at the College of General Studies or jokingly called College of Glue and Scissors at BU for two years and then transferred into the College of Arts and Sciences. I spent a semester in London with BU. There I studied the different ways humans seek connection and how easily groups can be manipulated en masse. My senior project was on ethical consumption and Product(RED) which I was obsessed with as a new business model - sell products that do good.

After returning to summer camp as Program Staff and leading the Small Crafts Division, I moved to New York City where my aunt, who worked in eco advertising lived in The Upper East Side.

I started working at ABC Carpet and Home as a foundation intern and served in their farm-to-table restaurant ABC Kitchen. There I met some of the most creative people NYC had to offer. I began classes at Fashion Institute of Technology and received my Sustainable Design Entrepreneur certificate. During that program I met the team at Eco Swim by Aqua Green, a new concept and brand from Mainstream Inc. - a manufacturer in the garment district of Manhattan. My passion for eco fashion led to an internship with that team where I was able to bring a brand new concept - sustainable swimwear - to market.

I fell in love hard in New York City. With fashion. With life. With myself again, after ending my four-year relationship with the Pole. His eastern european ways had quite an affect on me and it took time for me to come out of the fog.

The Austin - Boston - NYC - Sydney - Orlando - Mid-life Crisis Pipeline

I burnt out at the fashion company and decided to quit and move to Australia with absolutely no plans except to stay with Australian friends I had met working at ABC Kitchen.

After having the time of my life living and working on Bondi Beach every day, working for myself, making it happen, I was running out of money and needed to return to the States for my childhood best friend's wedding. I was sharing Maid of Honor duties with her friend Alexandra. We stood with her in the church and I gave a hilarious speech that just came out of me that morning at 6 am. I wrote it down once, practiced a few times and then nailed it. People came up to me after the speeches on the dancefloor and congratulated me on a great performance.

Love - I love it. I'm a love hard. I am a romantic at heart and I believe in fairy tales and tingly feelings and best friends forever ect. I can't help it.  I'm passionate and weird and try very hard to give people a chance.  More on that later...

Pray to Patron Saint Leslie Knope

Total lunatic from day one, I have been a feral child since the '80s.

My goal is to drive positive community impact through the creation of third spaces that serve the common, universal human need for connection, creativity and curiosity.

Why? Because this is where kindness lives. And kindness can change so much and costs so little.

A kinder world is a safer world.

Craftshop vibes are whatever Amy Poehler is up to. I often think I can become President of the United States because Leslie Knope did.

When I was a kid, I told everyone I wanted to be a ballerina, then dolphin trainer then President of the United States.

My love for crafting, kindness, camp and female empowerment make Leslie Knope the perfect Craftshop icon.

Craftshop runs a mini makers market for Infusion Tea once a month, where kids can come and sell their creations.

It's so important to foster creativity in kids, especially those that are brave enough, and entrepreneurial enough to sell to the public early on. Those are the leaders of tomorrow.

My second favorite thing after vision board parties with the girls is gifting items I thrifted and put together in a central theme, collected over time like the items were waiting for each other.

Secondhand gifting is thoughtful and difficult, unless you live for the hunt, like I do.

Actually, the camp has really wonderful men that work there in harmony, side by side teaching horseback riding, waterskiing or maybe are spending a summer learning English as a second language in the kitchen or maintenance crew. Some are children of the staff, like I was, a Staff Kid. Spending all summer, every summer for 10 summers. Running around like a maniac under the pine trees, trailed by an Au Pair with the rest of the staff kids, away from men. It felt like a bubble, safe from the rest of the world.

I believe women need to go into the woods more often.

Right now I'm celebrating the biggest win after having my son, which is hosting events and creating community from my home. Art is a catalyst for change and kindness is free and should our core human trait.

Over the past few years, I've tried different techniques to heal myself from past trauma and find peace with the world. Marijuana came after I tried different depression and anxiety meds which I only started taking in my early 30s at my breaking point.

In my late 30s I tried THC and I haven't looked back. It's like I've been unlocked.  Then my friend introduced me to energy work. Since then I've been chronicling my life on camera and I hope to turn the reflection in to my first novel.

I completely burnt out working in the Timeshare industry - It didn't suit my soul. Mea Culpa. I thought I could change it. It's not changing. Next!

What helped me come back to life was the support of my friends, and art. Connecting to my childhood self and the places that made me feel safe.

I'm going to help you get the friends together. No
